Ein jegliches hat seine Zeit Quilt
Everything in God's sight has its time.
For the back of this handmade quilt I used a Kenian rare kanga which has this proverb written on it, in Kisuaheli it says:
"kila jambo la mungu lina wakati wake"
It stands for trust, faith and perseverance -
This will be a heirloom piece!

For my quilts, I use my hand-dyed fabrics in combination with traditional patchwork prints and inherited fabrics.
For this quilt, I used cochineal to achieve various shades of pink, as well as oak and apple bark to create beige.
The hand-dyed fabric is combined with many different, original patchwork prints from my extensive collection. The patchwork top shows traditional Flying Geese blocks.
The individual pieces were sewn together by machine, while the quilting was done entirely by hand with Japanese Sashiko cotton thread.
The stitched quilt pattern features generous waves that meander across the entire quilt.
The batting is organic cotton, and the binding is organic linen. The backing is a rare Kanga fabric from Kenya. I brought back from Nairobi in 2018 after living there for three years.
The dimensions are 95 x 141 cm.

Für die Rückseite dieser handgefertigten Patchworkdecke verwendete ich einen seltenen kenianischen Kanga-Stoff mit folgendem Sprichwort in Kisuaheli:
„kila jambo la mungu lina wakati wake“
Es steht für Vertrauen, Glauben und Ausdauer – dieser Quilt ist ein seltenes Einzelstück!

Für meine Patchworkdecken verwende ich natürlich gefärbte Stoffe in Kombination mit traditionellen Patchworkstoffen und geerbten Stoffen.
Für diese Decke verwendete ich Cochenille, um verschiedene Rosatöne zu erzielen, sowie Eichen- und Apfelrinde für Beige.
Der handgefärbte Stoff ist mit vielen verschiedenen, originalen Patchworkstoffen aus meiner umfangreichen Sammlung kombiniert. Das Patchwork Top zeigt ein ursprüngliches Flying Geese Muster.
Die einzelnen Teile wurden mit der Nähmaschine zusammengenäht, während das Quilten komplett von Hand mit japanischem Sashiko-Baumwollgarn erfolgte.
Das Quiltmuster der Decke zeigt großzügige Wellen, die sich über die gesamte Decke schlängeln. Die Füllung besteht aus Bio-Baumwolle, die Einfassung aus Bio-Leinen. Die Rückseite besteht aus einem seltenen Kanga-Stoff aus Kenia. Ich habe ihn 2018 aus Nairobi mitgebracht, nachdem ich drei Jahre dort gelebt hatte.
Die Maße sind 95 x 141 cm.
